God has gifted us with the most powerful tool on earth, the human mind! With it man has created life changing technology that has forever altered the way we live, sent astronauts into orbit to explore the moon and the stars, and built the wealthiest empires from the most meager beginnings. All of these realities originated in the mind. Contrary to popular belief, defeat, in reference to this journey we call life is only a reality when the mind accepts it as so. It is only real when your mind truly believes it. Until then, it is merely a lesson to be learned, disguised as failure. It is a building block to a stronger spirit. Failures or temporary setbacks, when used properly are often fuel to fire up the imagination, build character & redirect us to follow God’s plan; sign posts to our true direction. Ben Stein said, “It is inevitable that some defeat will enter even the most victorious life. The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated….it is finished when it surrenders.”

If you truly want to live a life of abundance, filled with passion and joy, you must see defeat or failures for what they truly are; inevitable, temporary in nature, but absolutely necessary to gain the knowledge and wisdom we need to reach our full potential. Sometimes they are simply a detour to the correct path. The stories of the human spirit triumphing under the most disastrous circumstances are undeniable. These stories are only possible because accepting defeat was not an option.
